Don't be too stiff. You should relax a bit enjoy the party. You are there to have a good time with other people. Forget all about office talk and work issues. If you find yourself bringing up conversations about things that took place at work, steer away from these conversations.

As much as you are there to drink, make sure that you don't have too much such that you get drunk. Control yourself and only have one or a few drinks. If you notice that you are getting tipsy, stop. Losing control of your senses can make you do things that you might be embarrassed about later.

Feel free to interact with other people who are there. Make it a point to talk to other people who you normally don't interact with in the office. This is so that you can get to know them better. Don't spend your whole time there stuck looking at your phone. Also, socialize with the people you know, so as to reinforce your relationships.

You do not necessarily have to take alcohol; you can take any drink that you want. Non alcoholic beverages are an option you should consider, if you do not drink. The key thing that matters is that you showed up for the get together and that you are an interesting person to talk to.

Take time and freshen yourself up before you meet at the pub. You can make the transition by changing how your outfit looks like and make it less official. This will help you fit in more. You can also grab a quick snack or something to eat, so that you do not drink on an empty stomach.

Avoid office gossip or flirting. This might get you on the wrong side of your colleagues. This can escalate quickly when people are drinking and get out of hand. This can have negative ramifications on you when things get taken out of context and whatever you said about other people backfires on you. So, don't bad mouth other people.

Be careful about how you conduct yourself. As much as you relax, you should also have a grip on yourself. Don't do something that you might regret later. As informal as this might be, keep in mind that these are your colleagues and not just your usual friends, so whatever you do there might affect your career. Only do things that will help to build your character in a positive way.
