Drive through food options

By George Dodson

You're definitely familiar with drive through restaurants if you're into watching old films such as "Happy Days" and if you've been born on the early 60's. At one time, these were all the rage. Waiters back then were usually girls and they were called "Car hops". Each of these "car hops" wore their own respective uniforms or costumes whenever they're on service. The use of roller skates for waiters were very popular and very efficient back then.

All you have to do is pull up your car in the drive through then a "car hop" would immediately come rolling in to take your order. She'll then come rolling to your car window with a tray of your specified order. You'd consume the food and put the trash run on the tray, on the horn, and the car hop would come and retrieve your tray. Drive throughs were basically used in most of the beach boy movie settings and a few establishments went very famous because of this.

A lot of drive-in restaurants back then and today serve popular fast foods such as burgers, fries and soft drinks. A few drive throughs were able to come up with innovations on their menu like the grilled cheese sandwich and the special orders for chicken.

Since then, a lot of changes have been made with regard to the drive-in business. They don't have the car hops and special uniforms or servers on skates. However, a few still try to keep the tradition. They have a simple setup, and prices are usually standard. This however does not guarantee success in the business since there are a lot of major companies to compete with. With all that said, which is the best drive-in food?

There are tons of great drive-ins however the one on the top of the list would be "Sonic". These drive-ins have a varied menu, easy parking, and in some cases you can drive through, pick what you want to eat, and pay at the window. There is no more need to bring a tray that can fit to your car window just to have your food delivered. Food is not brought to each customer through paper or plastic bags.

Having to decide which drive-in food is the most palatable for everyone is quite a difficult question to answer. Over the years, it seems that the hamburger has been the favored food and drive-in restaurants. For most of these drive-ins, the burger is easy to fix, and easy to price competitively.

Other renowned drive-in restaurants like A&W as well as Dairy Queen however offer various other foods for their customers. A lot of these customers visit these drive-ins for their own specific specialty food. Modern drive-ins feature specialty foods which consumer can easily take note of. A good example of these special foods in menus is the "Six dollar burger" from Carl Junior's drive-in restaurant.

Through the years, ice cream has also been made a specialty like Dairy Queens "specialized ice cream". Furthermore, other establishments such as A&W featured root beers from all their other foods.

The Burger King double whopper is also something that each drive-in customer is looking forward to because of its size and its meaty taste. Again, it seems to be that the burger is really the food of choice for those choosing to use drive-ins.

Although these foods were proven to be delectable it wasn't really approved by those health bum therefore such restaurants like McDonald's have made particular additions in their menu for those health bums and for those who prefer veggies. Essential contrarily well.
