Why Joining The Breakfast Club Has Many Benefits

By Walter Reed

The disclaimer is stating that this is not an article about 5 high school kids discovering more about themselves after a day in detention. Here we have a bunch of people, strangers, who go out of their way, thrice a week to eat breakfast together. It sounds a bit odd but think about it. Bacon and friendship looks like a deal no one has the heart to refuse.

It is a guarantee that the friends who have the time to wake up early and go get a meal with you are the best. This is what Breakfast Club St Catharines, Ontario does at a local Angels Diner. The diner is set at Henly Square 395 Ontario street. They also have lunch and dinner, if mornings are not your thing.

Angels Diner has a good range of omelets, Belgian Waffles, eggs benedict and other varieties of the usual menu for mornings. Having a bunch of strangers gathering in a diner for breakfast thrice a month with this menu is definitely something to look forward to. The 50s interior design is reminiscent of the vintage charm from that era.

The main reason for creating this club is to encourage socialization among those who are older and do not see socialization as important anymore. These is to erase the tendency of older people to stop socializing and isolating themselves in the comfort of their homes. This usually leads to depression and other unexpected health deteriorating effects.

Whoever said that the number of friends one has decreases as they age has not met the breakfast fans of St. Catharine Ontario. Building new relationships and maintaining old ones is always a necessary facet of life. In this age where people like being shut in their own world, this has become more difficult.

The breakfast club idea is starting to sound really appealing after looking at the premise of eventual shutting out of people as we grow older. It also is a great remedy for those who never really got over their shyness. Bacon, coffee and waffles with a new friend can never sound like a bad idea. This makes the club the perfect first step in socializing for someone who is used to isolating themselves.

Real friendships extend to more than just exchanging the juiciest gossip around town. Moreover, it does not limit to sharing the same interests. Being friends with a person who can assure you their company and trust is something everyone should have until the end of their lives. As social creatures, humans are programmed to survive better and longer by associating themselves with other humans.

In addition, By having a ten minute non threatening conversation with someone has proven to improve solving cognitive tasks. This study tells us that associating with others in a friendly manner can contribute to keeping our minds sharp. When we talk to others, we exercise our brains and make a conscious effort to see the perspective of who it is we are talking to.

Persons who like to socialize have better physical health and have a higher chance of living longer. Social engagement can also boost mental health and have a more likely chance to steer clear away from depression. Being friendly with people and making an effort to established social connections can also greatly improve mood.
