Serve Guests Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Or Other Trendy Dishes At Your Next Party

By Paul Murphy

Having a nice drink after a long day can be refreshing when it comes time to relax. Although some people may like to indulge in spirits, there are some classic nonalcoholic favorites that may also fall into that category. Sometimes, people like to have that special beverage when they want to wind down for the day. For those who prefer sweet drinks, salted caramel hot chocolate may be the answer.

Kids of all ages are falling in love with this beverage, as it is easy to make at home. At one time, a person had to make a special trip to their nearest coffee retailer just to get a taste. Now, there are many brands and recipes that are available for anyone to try. However, the idea is to get that nice balance of salty and sweet with a hint of dark chocolate flavor.

This is not like any hot drink that happens to be sweet. Most hot chocolate lovers prefer this because the recipe is not intended to be sweet but offer a contrast of flavors and textures. One thing that many agree on is that it is not like the hot beverage they had as a kid. Since this recipe is not as sweet, it may also be a good drink to have before going to bed at night.

For those who are watching their waistline, it may be possible to use reduced fat milk when making this recipe or prepared mix at home. Whole milk, with the buttery caramel, gives this drink a robust texture but a compromise may be worth trying out. However, using artificial sweeteners or plant based milk products may throw the flavor off balance.

Anyone who does not care about cutting calories may wonder about which finger foods may complement this beverage. Small but mildly spiced hard baked goods are a good choice. Imported almond biscotti, shortbread, or speculoos cookies are perfect companions since these are not overly sweet and have enough flavor to complement this type of hot chocolate.

For those who find a recipe or brand they appreciate, they should not keep this to themselves. This type of hot chocolate may sound overly sweet to most but when they try it for the first time, they are likely to be pleasantly surprised. If a person likes to have friends over, they may want to serve this on cool afternoons or evenings instead of coffee.

Another idea would be to make a couple of quarts and pour inside a large portable thermostat for long trips or small gatherings of close friends. This drinks can also bring good feelings when served before office meetings or pot luck lunches. Those who are trying this out for the first time are likely to be impressed with the strong flavor profile and silky texture.

For some, this is enough but for those making a presentation at a gathering, garnishments give it real visual appeal. Try a dollop of whipped cream with cinnamon sprinkles or chocolate shavings. Once newbies get a taste of this somewhat addictive beverage, they may never want to put it down.
