To improve your pasta sauce, put aside some of the water used during the cooking of the pasta. Set aside a small amount of the water, about one quarter cup. While mixing the sauce and pasta, add the pasta water into the mix. The pasta water's starch adds a "creaminess" to the sauce via amalgamation.

Stick to recipes you are comfortable with when you are cooking for important company. Do not attempt to take on a fancy new recipe, or use ingredients you have not previously worked with. You will enjoy cooking more if you have greater peace of mind.

You can learn to cook in brine. Soak your duck, chicken, turkey, and goose in the brine for about an hour prior to preparation in order to have the tastiest poultry flavors for your recipe.

If you do any lengthy cooking process like boiling, many of the nutrients will be cooked out. If you want them to be healthier, try cooking them quickly by steaming or sauteing, or eat them raw!

Garlic can add a tremendous amount of flavor to your food. However, when you are cutting and chopping fresh garlic, it can also leave its odor on your hands. Rubbing your hands on something made of stainless steel, such as your sink, can help to get rid of these odors. Rubbing your hands on the stainless steel, helps remove the odor from your hands, so that every other food you touch does not smell like garlic also.

When recipes call for wooden skewers, make sure to soak them for half an hour at least before you use them. By soaking, you can prevent the skewers from burning while cooking your food. Prevent softer food from falling into the coals by using two parallel skewers rather than a single one.

Impress your family and friends with a simple sandwich just by carefully preparing it and presenting it in a great way. Many times, people are in a hurry and just put some mayo in the middle. If you spread it evenly, your sandwiches are complete with overall flavor.

You should discard your spices biannually and buy new ones. A lot of people keep spices too long, which makes them not taste very good. If you buy a certain spice and you know that you are not going to use it all before it goes bad, give half to a friend or family member.

When preparing to barbecue, make sure you light the charcoal in your grill ahead of time. Allot at least 30 minutes for the process, prior to placing food on the grill, to get your fire started and coals ready. Make sure that the heat of the coals is medium and that they are covered with ash. Once the coals have reached this point, they have reached the prime grilling temperature.

You can cut cinnamon rolls very easily. Sometimes it is difficult to cut the roll into small slices before baking. Instead of using a knife, cut the dough with a piece of strong thread. Place the thread underneath the roll in the location where you desire to cut. Bring the threads around the side, cross the threads on the top and pull both ends in the reverse direction. This will give you perfect individual cinnamon rolls!
