A Guide To Italian Food Avon OH

By Annabelle Holman

Italian food is famous all over the world. It is something that means different things to different people. What some may consider to be authentic may differ from somebody else. With the range of regions and specialities it is surprising just how diverse Italian food Avon OH can be.

A lot of what people typically consider to be traditional Italian dishes originate from Sicilian cookery. This is because the first wave of immigrants from Italy to America tended to come from Sicily and therefore brought a lot of their family traditions and recipes with them when they established themselves in the United States.

While not an exact science a broad rule is that the Northern parts of Italy tend to focus on the cleaner, more haute cuisine style. This means that the pizzas will tend to be thinner and have fewer toppings. The pasta will tend to have less sauce and will usually have just enough to coat it.

However the key aspect is how the pizza is cooked. It is generally felt that to get the best results it needs to be cooked in a traditional wood fired oven. This type of oven is a lot hotter than a conventional oven and this is how experts will tell you that you will get the best kind of pizza.

It is also worth remembering that Italy is not one singular culture. Indeed the country itself was only fully unified in the nineteenth century and therefore there are still distinct differences in culture around the different regions. Like a lot of European cultures the food is influenced by what is commonly available such as seafood dishes being a speciality of coastal areas.

This approach meant that when immigrants came to America they adapted their recipe to suit what was available in the country. The first wave mainly came from Sicily and therefore a lot of the recipes reflected that area. These are characterised by thick sauces and large amounts of meat.

However context is important as well. If you are ordering a pizza and want it delivered to a party the chances are you are less bothered about whether or not it is cooked in a traditional wood fired oven. In this instance speed and convenience are usually the more important factors. When it comes to restaurants the atmosphere is a key consideration. Remember a place you go with your friends before going out is probably not appropriate when taking someone out on a date!

In order to tell the difference it helps to be aware of what is available in your local area. Restaurant reviews are often a good indicator of the quality of food and service. However it is not just about how well something is cooked or how quickly it comes to the table. A good review should also indicate whether a restaurant feels welcoming, if it offers a sufficient range of vegetarian options and so forth. Use your regular search engine to find out more about Italian restaurants and takeout services in your local area as well as reviews and feedback on those services.
