Rotisserie Parties - How To Plan A Successful One

By Nora Seabolt

The need to feed multiple people withn a single community was the reason behind the creation of a rotisserie.Feeding many people could be handled quite easily through the use of a roasting spit that could cook a whole animal intact. While the rotisserie might have been created out of necessity, it is now one of the best ways to bring people together. As a matter of fact, weather permitting, nothing can beat a rotisserie party with friends, family members and neighbors.

Despite the fact that a rotisserie party is essentially a perfect venue for socializing, it still needs to be planned properly if it is to succeed. You would need to consider everything from the outdoor cooking equipment you will need to how much time the meat will need to be cooked. Here is a small guide designed to help you plan your rotisserie party.

Before you do anything else, you should make a list of the people who you want to invite and find out how many people are going to be there. The reason why this is important is that it would tell you the amount of meat you will need to serve so as to give you the time to arrange it with all the accompanying things that you will need.Ideally, your assumption should be for each person to eat around half a pound of meat. You will need a wide variety of things to go with the meat such as the basting liquid, all the various spices and the stuffing that you plan to use in your meat.

The type of meat that you want to roast would also be an important decision. This is also a decision that will depend upon the number of people you plan on inviting. For instance, a small to medium scale party can be catered to with chicken, a small turkey or even beef while a large party would require something bigger such as a large turkey, lamb or even suckling pig.

Once you know how much meat you will be roasting, you would also be in a good position to decide upon the size you will need while you go through various roasting spit hire options. If you do not want the entire rotisserie party to be an embarrassment for you then you need to ensure that you are completely sure about the size of the roasting spit that you get. While making a choice, you should also consider return and refund policies and issues pertaining to the delivery and pickup of the roasting spit hired.

You should also calculate the amount of time the meat will take to be roasted on the spit roast hired as this would allow you to host the party without inconveniencing anyone.A simple example of this would be you starting the meat two hours before the time you think people would start wanting dinner or lunch.

You should also consider turning the party into a potluck party where everyone brings a dish or dessert to contribute to the meat that you will be roasting. The reason for this is simply that making a rotisserie party a potluck would take some pressure off you to manage everyone's food requirements along with adding a certain sense of variety as well.

Finally, you should look to make sure that you have enough fuel such as wood or coal to last you the entire cooking period.

Extra fuel can be even more useful if you live in a cool region where it can be used to keep the people warm late into the evening.
