Why Do People Love Rotisserie?

By Nora Seabolt

There are several ways to cook. Some grill, some fry, others boil. There are of course, a huge selection of cooking methods like poaching, baking, roasting and sauteing. However, roasting continues to be one of the most popular. Maybe because of its simplicity of being put on a stick to slowly roast over a fire.

This type of cooking by earlier men who hunted would have been very popular. This scene reminds us mostly of camping nights, where campers roast food over fire, as it is the easiest thing to do. Well, roasting has evolved over time, and many variants of roasting now exist. One of them is rotisserie.

It is the process of putting meat on a stick and heating over a fire. The rod that holds the food is called a spit, and is made of metal. The rotating process in rotisserie allows the meat to be evenly cooked all over. This is a very slow way to cook food, but the result is worth the time. The meat that has been roasted this way comes out very succulent, juicy and tender. While the cooking process itself is called rotisserie, the entire kit, which includes the spit driven by a motor and a dripping pan, has come to be known by the same name. It can refer to both the equipment used in the roasting process and the type of cooking.

There is an exhaustive list of companies making these grills. Cyprus Grill is one of the older companies. Their reputation is top notch for offering a great grill. These grills come in two types - horizontal and vertical. The most common type is the horizontal grill and is used often in home barbeques and campfires. The important thing in horizontal grills is the balance of meat load. This even balance ensures the meat is well cooked, giving the best flavor possible. The vertical type is not commonly used in houses, as it requires heat to be given from the side of the spit, which can be a bit difficult to arrange.

Most grills come in sizes that are easy to fit in the trunks of cars, and can be easily assembled. Cyprus Grills also allow for cooking multiple meats at a time and are light-weight and compact. The fire in most outdoor grills is supplied by burning charcoal under the spit, and a dripping pan is provided to collect the natural fat of the meat that drips while roasting. This fat release also makes for healthier meat. This process of slowly cooked meat makes some of the best meat ever tasted. The cyprus grill is the way to go if you are looking to cook out this summer.
