Keep Your Weight Loss From Hitting A Plateau By Fooling Your Metabolism

By Bob Steele

If you're like many people out there, no doubt you've tried various diets to different degrees of success. You probably have lost weight, until you get to a certain point, and then you don't lose any more, no matter what you do. This plateau is hit by almost everyone and is common amongst all of the different diet plans. You cannot avoid the plateau problem if you don't figure out how to trick your metabolism.

You probably have already dealt with this plateau, which will normally end the diet plan with lots of disappointment. The plateau is an unusual occurrence and it happens to even the best dieters when they arrive at the third or fourth week of their diet programs. Right until that point the weight seems to come off with no trouble and then it just ceases and nothing really works to help the body shed more pounds. This is the way your body reacts to all of the changes you happen to be forcing upon it. Your body decreases your rate of metabolism when you arrive at this point since it wants to protect you from accidental starvation. This, then, keeps you from being able to drop more fat.

This is what causes people to believe they aren't capable of losing the weight they want, and they give up trying. This is what causes a lot of people to start eating again and they usually gain back more weight than they lost initially. The best way to stop this is to choose a diet where your calories just get shifted. This means you eat a different number of calories daily which can help deceive your metabolism. If this works on your body it will not enter "protective" mode. It will keep your metabolism constant instead of slowing down and you're going to get rid of even more weight. If you get to this point, you'll have passed your plateau and your diet will continue working the way it was designed to work.

It's not hard to work this plan into your daily regimen. One of the more widely used methods of calorie shifting is the 14 day method. In this plan, you adhere to your diet for eleven days and then on the 12, 13 and 14th days you eat the things you actually would like to eat. You can switch your foods during the day and fool your metabolism and then for three days eat what you want to eat and avoid the plateau. This really is very handy in keeping you on track with the more stringent dieting programs. You can actually continue repeating these 14 days until you feel content with the amount of weight you have dropped.

The 2 day plan is another good plan in which you eat as usual for one day and then trim your calories by 20% all the way up to 35%. You do this every two days for as long as it takes you to reach your weight loss objectives. This program is fantastic for helping you get past your plateau and lose the weight you want to lose so you should really look it over.
