What To Look For In Shrimp Suppliers

By Kelli Townsend

Shrimp is a type of seafood that people around the world likes to eat since it is very healthy and inexpensive at the same time. You can prepare them in many ways, from simple raw food to high cuisine, and they combine well with many ingredients. Food establishments are always looking for shrimp suppliers since many people like eating shrimps.

They are also good for those who are on a diet or on healthy living since these are low in fat and calories and high in minerals. Still, some people need to be cautious since they can cause allergic reactions and have a high level of cholesterol than most seafood. Shrimps are crustaceans which means they have an exoskeleton or a shell over their bodies.

They can be found feeding along the sea floors and are found mostly in coasts and estuaries, there are also some that can be found in rivers and lakes. Shrimp fishing is a big industry worldwide particularly among Asian nations where there is a lot of coastal villages, like in Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand. Local small scale fisheries for prawn have been existing for a long time since fishing is a major livelihood next to agriculture.

They are mostly inexpensive, so buy the ones with the highest quality. They come in different sizes, the bigger they are the higher the price, but they do not necessarily taste any better than the small ones. There are many countries that import these from Asian suppliers and buys them in large quantities.

If you are a new owner, here are some tips when looking for a good supplier. The most important tip is to take note of the price. Always look for those that can sell you these products at a reasonable cost, but make sure not to haggle too much otherwise they will hesitate doing business with you.

Always ensure the quality of the product that is being delivered, after all, you are in a food industry business and food quality is always priority. An organization will never thrive if they offer products no one wants to buy or resell. Always check that every batch of goods you received should be in high quality and fresh.

When it comes to delivering goods, your supplier must be reliable in terms of quality, quantity, and time. As suppliers, they must be able to deliver the correct number of products on time and should always be in top shape. Although large companies are very reliable, small companies can give a better service and more attentive especially if you have been a client for a long time.

The location should also be important since a provider that is far away will generate a big freight charge. It could also pose a problem when you need something fast so find one near home to save time and have a flexibility in ordering. It could also affect quality and freshness of the product especially if you order perishable goods.

Make sure you have a great relationship with them since this could be a way for them to give you better service and for you to save a lot of money along the way. It is very beneficial to have shrimp suppliers that fit to your needs. If your current supplier does not provide these services then this is the time to change providers.
