A Brief Guide To BBQ Maryland

By Marissa Velazquez

For some people BBQ Maryland is about pork. Some people purely associate this style of cookery with this particular meat. However it is equally to cook fish, vegetables and any number of other things using a barbecue. There are even some people who have used a barbecue to bake cookies!

The first thing is to make sure you have the proper equipment. This may sound obvious but the grill you have is a crucial part of how you cook. You need to be sure that you have something that works consistently and will give you the right amount of heat in order to ensure what you cook is cooked properly.

A lot of people associate the term BBQ with pork. It is true that this meat can produce a surprisingly diverse range of food that can cover a wide array of tastes, whether someone likes it simple or wants something with a bit more spice. This can include cola marinate pulled pork, spicy spare ribs or pork and apple burgers. However this is just one example of the food you can cook on a barbecue grill.

Avoid poking or prodding as this will remove juices and dry out meat. It is best to only turn over steaks a couple of times. Do not pour marinade on meat while you are cooking as this will result in the flames flaring up and a burnt top to anything you cook. It is better to marinade before you cook it, letting food soak up the flavour before you need to put it on the grill.

Hygiene is also a crucial consideration and something that you should not forget about just because you are cooking outside. Cooked food needs to be put on a clean plate or chopping board. Also any marinade that has been used on raw food should not be used on cooked food as well. While a barbecue should be relaxed it is best avoiding contaminating your fellow diners!

Once you have cooked you should leave your food to rest. This will ensure juices do not leak out and will prevent your meat from being dry and lacking in flavour. Check recommendations as different meats, fish and so forth will require different amounts of resting.

You should not be afraid to experiment either. While ribs, burgers and steaks are always likely to be popular kebabs, fish, sweet potatoes and a whole range of other foods can be cooked on a barbecue. Having a range of side dishes alongside the meat will offer a bit of variety as well as giving people who are not necessarily meat eaters something they can enjoy as well.

There are numerous BBQ Maryland websites. These can help you with tips on how to get the best results as well as a wide array of recipes. You should also look online for customer reviews of equipment, sauces, marinades and so forth to allow you to get the most from your barbecue.
