Interesting Things About Tampa Wines

By Krystal Branch

When you think about vines, your first thought is probably France, Italy or California. In fact, Florida has its own Napa Valley, in Tampa Bay Area, and they have very interesting Tampa Wines. They have a tropical climate, and most grapes cannot tolerate it. Even so, they grow grapes since sixteenth century, and today they have their own hybrid, developed to grow successfully in these conditions.

The specialties of Tampa bay Area are fruit or citrus vines, although some wineries make their products using grapes only. One of these companies focused on original grape beverages only is The strong Tower winery. All their products are made from four types of grapes, but even they have a special, blueberry wine in their offer. Different combinations of citrus and grape vines can be found in most other wineries.

Other wineries such as Florida Orange Groves and Winery, located in Pinellas County, offers pure citrus based vines. If you are more interested in traditional wineries, you can try some of their tasty and interesting products in Rosa Fiorelly winery, in Bradenton. They offer free wine tasting every day, and the same thing is with The Florida Estates winery in Paco County.

There are no enough grapes varieties here for more serious vine production. That's why they import their grapes from Canada and California. The most popular vines they make here are Pinot Noir, White Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Most manufacturers combine these grapes or done vines with fruits, making very interesting and tasty combinations.

In any case, citrus vines are really interesting. Blueberry wine, for example, has a tart scent, full body and warm dulcet fruit flavors. Made from sun-ripened blueberries, with no grapes added, it has very nice texture and delicate sweetness. Sweet, dry and semi-dry variations are mostly available. Strawberry wine is, on the other hand, mostly combined with Riesling. Beautiful, pale gold colored vine is best served chilled.

Fruity and light combination of Pinot Noir and raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries is one of the best red vines in Florida. Produced by Keel and Curley winery, this one goes just great with spicy foods. Unlike other red vines, it is best served chilled, and tastes especially nice with Asian food and similar dishes.

Tangerine and Zinfandel combination is especially refreshing. The taste is bitter and sweet, and you can make very nice cocktails for hot summer days using this lovely vine. Another tasty and refreshing combination is light and interesting Key West Key Lime. It contains domestic limes and Sauvignon Blanc. The beverage is light and delicate, and it is served chilled.

For those who prefer stronger, more intensive aromas and tastes, full-bodied, deep red blackberry wine offers just that. Full fruit made, this strong and exciting vino has to age for many months to become so specific. It is widely appreciated, because it has numerous great qualities. It contains very high level of anti-oxidants, among other things, and it's great help for people recovering from illnesses.

Fruit made, grape only or combined, all Tampa wines are best served chilled. Some go great with meat dishes, some are better with light vegetable meals, but you will enjoy sipping any of them in some warm summer evening. They are mostly light and very refreshing, with exciting fruity aromas and interesting tastes.
