Make Real Italian Sauce Right In Your Own Kitchen

By Eula Nichols

When it comes to food, Italian chefs really know their way around the kitchen, but you don't have to be one to create your own real Italian sauce from home. This stuff is used in many dishes and can be made with a variety of different spices. Once you have perfected the art you will never buy store bought brands again.

Always start with the best fresh tomatoes. The best ones can vary depending on the season, but you want them to be about medium sized and very red in color. Gently peel the skin off of each one and mash them up as much as you can. The goal here is to get rid of as many of the lumps and bumps as you can. When they have been mushed to a pulp you will need to bring them to a boil on your stove top. After that you should reduce the heat and let it simmer for a few hours.

There are several different spices that are important to get that authentic flavor. Basil and garlic should be added to the mixture while it is heating up, along with a touch of salt and pepper to enhance the flavors. Oregano and chilies are also commonly used spices but don't be afraid to get creative and experiment with your own favorites to create something that caters to your own tastes.

When you want to give the process a more authentic feel then try to do everything by hand. This means crushing all of the larch chunks out of the tomatoes until they make a smooth paste and squeezing out all of the seeds. There are some tools available to help with this process that are all hand held.

If you love the fresh flavors of tomato sauce and have some free time on you hands then why not make up a huge batch to store in jars for future use. The process involves heating the jars in order to sanitize them, then pouring the hot mixture in, and finally sealing the lids tightly and submerging them into ice cold water to make them air tight.

They make perfect gifts for anyone throughout the year. When you have mastered your perfect recipe why not share it with the people n your life as often as you possibly can. Gift giving holidays and birthdays are fantastic occasions to show off your mastery of the sauce making art. Any Italian food lovers in your life will keep coming back for more.

When you are making your own homemade sauce there is no worry about what ingredients have gone into making it since you put them all in yourself. There is no worry about added conservatives or chemicals that you don't want. Just just authentic tomato sauce.

Use this real Italian sauce on pastas, pizzas, and many other traditional dishes. The flavors go well with a wide array of dishes that you may not have though to make them with. Get creative and experiment with different things. Remember that if you run out all you need to do is make even more.
