These are the most eaten sprouts on this earth. This is so because the seed is full of nutritional value which cannot be ignored. The seed can be grown easily on small portions of lands or even on containers. The sprout from these seeds or the seeds themselves can be utilized to make great recipes. The seed which is believed to be from India was known commonly as green gram or Moong bean. Mung bean sprouts are actually still being cultivated in sometime parts of China, Southeast Asia and also in India.

Both sweet dishes and savory use it as an ingredient. These Moong seed can be used to make various cuisines especially across Asia. If a person wants to cook the whole seed, they are first dried and later boiled until they become soft. To identify this moong seed, they are light yellow basically in color when the skin is shed off or removed.

Mung bean paste usually is made by pulverizing, cooking and dehulling the beans to dry paste. It is recommended that Indian cuisine be made using beans without skins. In Kerala, these whole moong seeds are majorly boiled first to make some dry preparation that is served with gruel rice. Dehulled moong seeds can be used in the same manner simply as whole beans to make sweet soups.

Many people in India prefer to use moong seeds to prepare cuisines. Then in Kerala, the whole moong seeds are actually boiled to simply make those dry preparations that are supposed to be served with some gruel rice.

It is good to note that these moong seed has very many health benefits when consumed in the right quantities. Many people in United States are not familiar with moong seed as their counterparts in India who have used the bean for thousands of years. In India it is actually one of those cherished food. Since 1500 B. C it was being used for medicinal purposes.
