More people are finding the benefits of eating more plants, as they offer high levels of common nutrients like potassium and selenium. However, many forget that meat and poultry products of today are not only nutritious but have a lot of flavor. Instead of trying to live off of meat substitutes, more people are giving allnatural grass fed beef a try.

This is Not a New Food

This is not a trend in food culture, as cows and other farm animals had a diet based mostly on grass and things that grew from the earth. When manufacturers found they could make a similar product for less, the quality declined. Most cows were forced to eat things that were not healthy. Unfortunately, the consumer began to suffer as well.

Even though many factors played a part in most turning to a vegetarian or vegan diet, there was often something missing. Nutrients, like iron, that is found in beef and other proteins. While some could be found in grainy or starch based dishes, these are not ideal for anyone looking to lose weight by cutting calories.

More consumers are coming to the realization that fad diets are just a waste of money. By eating meals that contain a lean protein, along with vegetables and grains, they can have the energy to participate in a reasonable exercise program. Consuming reasonable portions of real food is also something people can do for years to come.

The best way to lose weight for good is to eat sensibly and remain active. A balanced diet can also help restore energy levels. Most people who eat a vegan or vegetarian diet say that maintenance can be tough. One commonality is the possibility of developing anemia since few plants have high levels iron or vitamin B. This can lead to feeling tired often and sometimes it takes the right brand of supplements, or prescribed medication, to make the person feel better.

Lean Meat is Easy to Prepare

There are many ways to cook beef or poultry so that it retains its natural flavor. Dry rubs and marinades that are low in sodium can be used overnight for intense taste. After a long day at work, the meat can be broiled or grilled on the stovetop in a matter of minutes. While vegetables make the perfect side dish, most produce that can stand on its own as an entree are not as versatile.

Just a simple pan sear or a few minutes in a convection oven is ideal after working long hours. One thing that holds true is that this is a healthier alternative to eating fast food. Preparing a steak or chicken breast is easy for anyone who does not consider themselves a cook.

When a person sees what they have been missing, they are likely to give it a try. Studies have shown there are other health benefits that are worth the price tag. Most who convert say the upgrade is an investment in their health.
