In the beginning the world was created. The heavens, the mountains and the seas were formed. The sun shone in daytime and stars twinkle. Early civilizations flourished beside the great rivers. Nearly all the great world rivers were home to early settlement as evidenced by archaeological artifacts that have been dug along its banks. Soil was very fertile in these areas and having a water source nearby was very advantageous to the population. One of the greatest civilizations had its beginning along the Nile River.

Homesteads were also hosts to live domestic animals whose wasted could be easily washed away by water from the river. Water accessibility is a big plus even during the early days. Annual inundations gave assurance of good crop harvest every cycle. This was further improved by digging ditches alongside plantations that automatically gave water to the crops. This was early irrigation.

Today the agriculture industry is a major contributor to the economy. Nations that are located in continuous landmasses are at a distinct advantage. Huge tracts can be cultivated for cash crops as well as livestock breeding and mass production. These products are easily sold in markets inside cities and communities. Subsidiary industries also prosper because of agricultural activities.

Goods and commodities are distributed to dealers and sellers in the commercial zones where markets are located. Food products are delivered to restaurants and resorts to be served to consumers. People today have very discriminating taste and appreciated good cooking to the delight of master chefs and cooks. Various ethnic influences are infused into cuisine art.

Where ever there are special occasion, it would not be a surprise that food will always be the center piece of the event. Weddings have receptions for guest to partake of food. Restaurateurs take extra care in creating delectable tastes for patrons. Fiestas and state fairs are huge events that involve a large number of warm bodies.

Nowadays people eat more than what is required for the body, the reason for so many early deaths caused by obesity, diabetes, and other illnesses that are related to over eating. The huge woodlands that are habitats for creatures have slowly disappeared as more land is allocated for the agriculture. Conservation and preservation of the natural world has now been given priority by nations.
