Many pregnant women experience acid reflux. As the belly gets crowded by the baby, the acid could be pushed into the esophagus. Refrain from eating foods that have a high acid content. Once you have eaten, exercising too soon after can definitely make your acid reflux worse. Too much activity will cause your recently consumed food to move up to your esophagus. Wait at least one to two hours after a meal before exercising.

Avoid overly restrictive clothing. Tight fitting pants, belts and pantyhose can really make you feel worse. When you wear clothes that are uncomfortably tight, a great deal of pressure is exerted on your stomach. Heartburn symptoms will soon be on their way. Put on clothing that feels good and doesn't press down on your stomach.

Are you aware that how likely a food is to create acid in the stomach doesn't have much correlation with the pH level? Lemons digest to become highly alkaline, for example. If you have acid reflux, this can be extremely confusing. Learn about what foods do once digested.

The weight of your baby when you are pregnant can actually contribute to your acid reflux. Talk to your doctor to determine the correct course of action if you are in this situation, especially in the latter stages of your pregnancy.
