Steps In Making Cinnamon Flavored Toothpicks

By Roseann Hudson

For many years now, cinnamon has been used to spice food. In the recent past, people have learnt the art of making cinnamon flavored toothpicks to help them consume more of the cinnamon. This is because it has a great medicinal value, it used to get rid of bad breath, and it also helps in getting rid of food particles from teeth. To make cinnamon toothpicks, you need cinnamon liquid, the sticks and an airtight jar.

To make a toothpick of this kind, the following stages must be followed. To begin with cinnamon is placed in an airtight container. The container should neither be too large nor too small for you to get the best results. Simply put, the size of the container used should be dependent on the number of sticks that will be placed inside it. It is however recommended not to flavor so many sticks at one go as this might greatly reduce their quality.

The next step is to put the number of wooden sticks that you want to make toothpicks from. They should be the height of the container so that it can be closed easily. So as to maximize the container, ensure that they completely fill all the spaces that are available. Five hundred would be a good number for a medium sized container.

After you have carefully arranged the sticks inside the container, you need to close it tightly. You need to ensure the lead is firm enough so as to avoid any form of leakage that could lead to the loss of the cinnamon. You should then go ahead and invert the container in order to allow for even distribution of the flavor inside the sticks.

You should let the jar remain that way overnight. This is to allow enough time for the sticks to absorb as much flavor as possible. Even though the cinnamon is only a small amount, you will find that it will work effectively because of its strong scent and the air tight container. In the morning, you will find that the stick will be wet from the cinnamon, and they will have acquired this flavor.

Once the twelve hours are over, remove the sticks from the container. You should place them on a place which is nonabsorbent. This is so that it does not such the cinnamon from the sticks. The place should be clean too. Wash your hands properly before handling the sticks so that you do not contaminate them.

To determine whether the sticks are completely dry, you need to feel them with your fingers. If there are no stains left on your fingers, you can be sure that they are dry. The only job left would be to collect the sticks using disinfected hands so as to avoid germs.

The last step is to pack them. Do this in an air tight container so that they do not lose the flavor with time. If they are for home use, keep them in a tight container. Those for sale should be sealed properly too. If there is any cinnamon that remained in the container, tightly close it in and leave it for use next time.
