The Fascinating Story About Cakes

Almost all people around the world know what a cake is. And a person have eaten cake at least once or twice in his entire lifetime. Nowadays, you will see different varieties of cakes. And most people have their own favorites when it comes to the flavor and the make of it.

The history of the baked creation is colorful. In fact, it is was an essential part of some key events in the history of a civilization. Cakes New Jersey and those that are baked all over the world is part of an event and holds a significant meaning in that particular scene. From the simple round shape, you can now see different designs and shapes that are on display. There are even some which were pattern from a specific person or form.

There was a notion that during ancient times, this dish is only for those who can afford to buy the ingredients. The ingredients that are needed to bake it is very rare. And because of the developments that happened in the society, obtaining ingredients and making it have become more convenient.

For the many years that cake has been a part of the lives of so many people, there are also many who do not know interesting facts about it. There is no specific date on record about when cakes where invented and why. There is even no clear evidence on where it came from.

But according to ancient records, the people of Egypt were the first ones to discover it. They must have grown weary of the taste of plain and tasteless bread that they decided to add honey. It was believed that the first sweetener was not sugar, but honey.

Although the place of origin was unclear, the name was credited to the Vikings. The Norse word was kaka. Cakes have undergone too many changes but its meaning has never changed. It was given to a person or is present in an event that is special. Since it was costly, you would only give it to someone who means a lot to you.

It became a part of ancient rituals. One example is the Beltane Festival of the Celts. Where they light a fire on topmost part of the hill, then they let a piece roll down the hill. If it breaks it means bad luck for the coming year.

A wedding celebration would not be complete without the presence of the cake. The layers that you usually see in the cakes during weddings was an idea of an ancient tradition. During that time, the dish would be provided by the guest. Each would bring a layer which means that if the couple has a lot of friends, they would also have a towering cake.

The ingredients for making this recipe comes at a high cost before. The only time when it became cheaper was during the Industrial Revolution when baking powder was invented. It also improved the mechanics of the ovens used in baking. The improvements made it more convenient for the bakers because there would be no need for them to watch their creations all the time. And when railroads were built, the transportation of ingredients became easier.
