Why Authentic Olive Oil Matters

By Jennifer Marie Anderson

If you want to talk about the major selling points of olive oil, it would be unwise to overlook authenticity. I am sure that others will attest to this, seeing as how investments should only be made in the most genuine products possible. What are some of the points in question regarding authenticity, you may wonder? Here are a few details to help you better understand why, exactly, authenticity matters to a high degree with this product.

Yahoo posted an article regarding olive oil, stating that not all products are made the same way. Of course, there are certain companies which value authenticity, which is why certain culinary specialists utilize these. Unrefined oil is where attention should be drawn, seeing as how a product of this nature has the greatest amount of uncompromised nutrients imaginable. Without this element set in place, oil will be seen as low-quality.

In fact, the aforementioned article stated that more than 80 percent of extra virgin olive oil brands have been found to be fake. What this means is that those very companies have refined oils, bringing several types together in order to create illegitimate products. Fortunately, in Europe, it's actually illegal to mix oils together, which serves as a blockade in that region. This law doesn't exist in the United States, though, which is why shoppers must be aware of their options.

How can the best olive oil be purchased by those who are interested? I think that it's important to go over research, first and foremost, since there are reviews of products which exist online. It's just a matter of knowing where to shop and whose words to take into account the most. Once you have the oil in your possession, taste it and see if you can pick up fruitier accents and pungent aromas. These are, without question, some of the better selling points associated with this oil.

When it comes to the most beneficial foods imaginable, olive oil should be noted. However, this only applies to oil which is seen as authentic, which means that you have to be wary about what you invest in. Fortunately, there should be more than enough consumer reviews for you to see what's available and make your own judgment based on the information you obtain. After this is done, hopefully your attention will be drawn to products which are worth it.
