There are also banana nut pancakes. If you like banana pancakes on their own, try adding some pecans or walnuts to the mix, perhaps even candied ones. This will add a surprisingly delightful crunch to the experience.

Blueberry pancakes are a classic. All you need to do is add blueberries to your pancake batter, and you have a moist pancake that is both sweet and tart, depending on how ripe you like your blueberries. Always try these if you are just starting to experiment.

Most people would not think to have pancakes when they are sick, but if you add a good helping of ginger to them, it can really help you stave off a cold. It will also add a great flavor. Even though ginger can make your pancakes a little drier, the flavor it adds more than makes up for this, especially when combined with the sweet syrup.

If you are not a skilled pancake chef, you may not want to try making them with oatmeal, as they might turn out dry. If you are, though, they resemble the pancake form of oatmeal raisin cookies. They can be pleasing to the pallet in both texture and flavor.

Silver oak pancakes are not widely recognized, but are very light and fluffy. The secret is four eggs and sour cream in the batter. If you like original plain pancakes, definitely try a silver oak pancake recipe.

Orange buttermilk pancakes differ depending on how you like them. You can give them more or less orange flavor by adding different amounts of orange zest to the batter. The buttermilk will allow them to be fluffy, and the zest will add a great hint of orange.

As for the most commonly made pancake of all, there is the buttermilk pancake. This is a sweet and rich pancake with a certain heavy fluffiness to it, due to the buttermilk. You can find these in many restaurants, and they are not hard to make at home either.

Chocolate pancakes are for those with a real sweet tooth and a weakness for chocolate. They can be made in the style of buttermilk or silver oak pancakes, but the extra ingredient of chocolate powder is added to the mix. This makes them good for both breakfast and dessert.

One very good type of pancake around the time of the holidays is a gingerbread pancake. Just like a ginger pancake, it has plenty of ginger, but it also has other spices added to make it even more delicious. Something that can be done to make it extra special is to make an eggnog cream topping for the pancake. What a great way to finish these 10 very tasty types of pancakes.
