Gourmet Marinades Save Time And Energy

By Antoinette Quinn

More people find themselves making homemade meals for a number of reasons. This can be as a way to save money or ensure that they are eating a balanced meal for better health. Then again, some people just enjoy cooking and are willing to try just about anything. This eliminates the fuss that comes with measuring ingredients for the perfect taste. Gourmet marinades have many benefits when it comes to cooking meals without fuss or worry.

Those that keep long hours at work or have limited time that wants a homemade meal should consider the use of marinades in their cooking. There was once a time when people used salad dressing as a way to flavor meat. While this works in some cases, rubs and marinades provide more flavor.

Speaking of penetration, many people want to know the right way to get meat properly marinated. While some brands they can flavor meat by simply covering in marinade sauce two hours before cooking, the best way to get the most flavor is to soak meat overnight or use a meat injector with a wide needle to accommodate chunks of herbs and spices.

Another way to penetrate the meat would be to pierce it with a fork or sharp knife before pouring and let it sit for a couple of hours before cooking. Covered meat can also sit in a freezer bag and frozen for a few months. The flavors would be really powerful and the meat tender with seasonings.

Using dry rubs is also a good option to season meat without fuss or guessing. Though the majority of rubs on the market are made for beef and pork products, some will work just as well with chicken and other poultry dishes. For instance, a hickory or mesquite rub will bring a nice, smoky flavor to any entree, including tofu.

Vegans and vegetarians may find that these can be used with wok meals, vegetables that can be grilled or other vegetarian entrees. The best vegetables to try out are those that are dense in texture and light in flavor. Compatible flavor choices are those with a garlic base yet there are some that are recommended especially for vegetables. Since vegetables are easier to penetrate than meat, it is not necessary to soak in sauce as it can be added while cooking.

Getting a good marinade sauce is much easier than a person adding ingredients to a premade product. Some people do this for more flavor but when a person buys marinade that has quality ingredients, this is not necessary. Adding seasoning is mostly an extra step that can add time to the cooking process.

Overall, these save a lot of time in the kitchen and with all the different varieties that are available, it is hard to become bored. Cooking with marinades and rubs are also a good way to cut the extra calories and fat that come with sauces and fattening gravies that use a lot of oil. With the right gourmet marinades, anyone can have a great meal quickly.
