Ecological Effects Moroccan Olive Oil Production

By Jeannie Chapman

Pizza and carbonara are just some of our favorite food with olives on it. You might be thinking of italy or greece if you will be asked for the suppliers of it. But today, there is a country that is already at its height in supplying the world with it. This product made Morocco the top two best suppliers of olives in the whole globe. This also made their country improve when it comes to economic status. Moroccan olive oil is not one of the in demand supply in the world market.

Doctors are already convince with the nutritional value brought by the olives. It is considered monounsaturated and this means that once taken, it will not stay in our body unlike the other fats that will stay and can even develop as cancer. And doctors suggest this oil for food.

Due to its nutritional benefits, the demand of it is getting higher and higher. And since the demand is already there, morocco can no longer get rid of it for they already have a much bigger responsibility to the world bank and not just for their locals. But it is frightening to know that in the near future, the country can no longer supply everyone.

Olives had been their source of financing ever since the invaders planted them in Africa. And the government still continues to encourage people to plan more olive trees. That even Greece which was the second largest supplier was defied by the Morocco. Their government and economy seems like almost relying on such exporting.

Though this can be a good source of income to all of Moroccans, this would put the ecosystem in danger, and the only this that could stop this is to shut down the business. This can be cause by the industries processing the olives and without the proper waste management disposal. Or polluting the air with the air gas secreted from the factories.

Agriculture can also be responsible for this and not just the factories. Agriculture processes put the life of morocco in such a way that the soil can no more work and eventually will turn into a dessert when the time comes. If they will still continue planting olive trees without letting the soil get nutrients from other plants of if the soil is not treated well, this possibility will occur.

The government has no choice but to keep the exporting on going until they find another alternative for this. If they will decide to illegalize olives reproduction, the country would be back to being a very poor country. And for now, finding the solution is the best move the government could do.

This is to say that you should be aware of what you are consuming because you might be wasting something which is a gold to anyone. Evidences of such theory have not yet been proven but few years from now, it is said that they will feel the effect of it. Once this will grow and grow, everything including the world market will be affected.

Supply of Moroccan olive oil might not be at risk as of now. But once the consumers will continue to waste it, and the suppliers cannot still manage on how to work with their problems, time will come that there will be a supply degradation. And to avoid this, minimize using such oil for no reasons.
