What To Know About Halal Rations

By Leanne Goff

Several principles and instructions exist in Muslim teachings that dictate which foods are legal to eat and which ones are not permitted. These laws mostly talk about poultry and beef animals. Islam believers are not regarded as true Muslims if they fail to abide by these regulations. The law on halal rations is very clear on the right diet to be followed by believers.

All these guidelines can be found in the Holy Quran. Some examples of foods that are not allowed to be consumed by Muslim believers include pork. Animals that have died before they were slaughtered should not be eaten. Islam also does not allow the consumption of blood products. In the teachings believers are asked to regard their animals with respect; when slaughtering animals they are asked to try to reduce the level of pain it experiences.

The accepted procedure for animal slaughtering worldwide is the piercing of the jugular vein and to allow the blood to drain from the animal. Draining the blood does not mean that the believers will consume it; Muslims are forbidden from using animal blood. In order to eliminate confusion whether butchery has followed Islam guidelines, there are certifications that are handed to shops that abide by these laws.

Having a restriction on the amount of food to consume does not mean that Muslims are subjected to insufficient food; the food must be enough to sustain a normal person. The correct ration is then packed into safe clean bags. The package in most cases comes with spices, napkins and utensils.

A Ration can be consumed directly from their packets without the need to cook them. There also exists the option to re-cook the meal either in pans or by using a microwave. If in a hurry, an individual can dip the whole meal in hot water without ripping the package. It is packaged in such a way that it can withstand huge levels of heat without breaking.

Store owners and food manufacturing companies need to ensure that the ration is properly labeled according to their nutritional composition. Consumers on the other hand ought to check the contents of each pack so that they eat a meal that has a nutritional balance. To be on the safe side and in line with Islamic laws, the buyers must ascertain that all contents on the packs are genuine and complement the true ingredients of the meal.

A majority of products in supermarkets have a shelf life. Buyers should examine this when searching for a ration to purchase; the nearer the date of manufacturing the better the quality of product. Rations can last up to ten months and it is recommended that food past its shelf life must not be consumed as it may be contaminated with bacteria and moulds.

Many companies worldwide have joined in the production of Halal rations. The most targeted group of customers is military men because most armies cannot afford to slaughter animals and process the meat according to Islam teachings; therefore, they opt to buy the ration from manufacturers. In modern society these certified rations have been easy to find as more and more people have accepted them as an easy alternative to conventional foods.
