With Guns Survival Can Be Assured

By Jeff Strickland

A lot of people, when guns are mentioned, think about them in very different ways. Some of them will think about collections they have seen or know about. These will include antiques or items pulled off of the enemy while they were in one of the wars. There are others who will think about other uses such as target practice and competitions.

Many will be wanting to talk about the latest gun grabbing schemes masquerading as so called common sense gun control. They will want to ask about how to change the guns they do have to escape the definition established in the regulations. They want to be able to avoid the danger all gun owners have when going up against the never ending rules that are being put out.

Many people consider what are the best pieces for survival should worse come to worse. They will debate about the need for multiple guns consisting of rifles, pistols and various other supplies needed to fend off marauding groups of people wanting what they have. There will be a lot of these discussions and all of them will end with an agreement that everyone has their own preferences and each bug out kit has what the owner needs in this area.

Old military people will want to mention their favorite weapons, such as the M16 and the civilian model, the AK47. These have the stopping power and all of the accessories needed to handle just about any situation. They are easy to use, almost jam free, easy to break down and are light enough to carry with a helpful handle built right in. This is a common weapon to have and many people display them over their mantle or in the den.

The 45 caliber pistol they had on their hips probably had a role to play in their comments as well. This is an easy to break down model that has stopping power also. This model and other 45s will serve the purpose in just about any conflict where hand to hand combat is almost all but necessary.

Most people will want to have a 22 rifle on hand whether they are looking for firing practice or into survival planning. These have a large enough, economic bullet for killing small game animals and can injure if not stop all people this side of zombies. There are many different guns that will accept this round and a flexible system of protection will include several of them in the home or bunker.

A survey or poll was taken in June of 2013 and found that of all manufacturers available, five of them carried 88 percent of the vote. These were Glocks, Ruger, Springfield, the Taurus and those S and Ws. This says a lot about the popularity and the overall usability of these weapons.

There are more expensive rifles as well. These would include the Mossbergs and Barretts, such as the 50 BMG. The rifles that have the large price tags can be used for the bragging rights they present. These are also for those collectors who are looking to put some heft in their collections.

There are also the weapons that simply are what they need to be. That need is to make people aware of what they could be in danger of if they are messing with the owner of a shotgun. You can make a little noise when you are ramming a round home in a 45 or when cocking the hammer of a single shot, no matter how much power either one of them has. You are making statement when you are racking a pump action shotgun. They know what that sound is and, if they are trying to do you wrong, they hate it.

The newbies in the discussion group will learn about a lot of different things. They will need guns for target practice and survival. They may need something for training on for the next competition or simply to have ready, just in case. No matter what the reasons, good or bad, they will gain an education from the established marksmen.

There are many places to get that education and all of it can start with that informal group. Finding a Federal Firearms Licensed dealer will bring into mind all of the rules and regulations. Talking with a few survivalists will also give that student a lesson in the nature of things as they stand in this political world of guns.
