Buffalo Jerky Is A Healthier Choice

Enjoying a snack should not wreck a diet plan, as there are more choices on the market. There are new food choices on the market that taste really good, the truth is that these pack a lot of nutrients. Although vegetables and a little fruit are always good, there are more healthy choices out there. Foods like buffalo jerky are not only low in calories but are a nice source of protein.

Although there are many types of jerky meats on the market, the ones with a lower salt or sugar content are becoming the preferred choice for those on a diet. While buffalo is a lower fat meat than cow, poultry and seafood styles are just as tasty. Flavor combinations run the gamut as well. Some found in stores or online can range from herbal to sweet and somewhere in between.

For those who like to plan intimate socials, there are many edible choices that are likely to meet the approval of guests. Instead of a calorie laden sour cream dip, using hummus for dipping pita chips is a much healthier option. While most recipes chickpeas and olive oil flavored with garlic and lemon juice, there are varieties with beets or roasted peppers. Chickpeas, or garbanzo beans, have a number of healthy properties, like fiber.

For a sweet treat, Greek yogurt has little sugar and is good with dried fruit pieces and grain toppings. This may be a welcome change to the traditional ice cream party for kids or adults. In a partially frozen state, vanilla Greek yogurt can be easily mistaken for its high dairy counterpart. Because some brands contain probiotics, it may be good for the digestive system.

Most people would be amazed at how easy these new low calorie snacks are to prepare. Besides being inexpensive, these allow anyone to eat healthy without a lot of fuss. This holds true for chips, as most vegetables can be sliced and baked in an oven until crisp. The amount of oil used is just a small fraction of what some restaurant use to deep fry potatoes and other vegetables.

Besides the ease and the fact that many choices here are relatively inexpensive, there are important dietary factors. Foods that are low in fat and sodium not only helps one to lose weight faster but can prevent things like elevated cholesterol and high blood pressure. While there are a few exceptions on the market, anyone can make their own version at home and control what goes in.

Another thing that will make busy people happy is that many of the items listed here are not only easy to store but can be carried in a small container. While natural or organic jerky meats may have a shorter shelf life than similar products loaded with preservatives, these need no refrigeration if the package has not been opened.

More food manufacturers are coming up with edibles that not only taste good but offer a number of benefits, like real nutritional value. The truth is that there is nothing wrong with cheating but when it is not possible to have a sensible meal, this is a nice alternative. Because there are wholesome ingredients with little to no sugar, it may be possible to feel full with one serving.
