What To Look For In Fresh Fish Hawaii

The tuna comes in many different forms, and there are many fantastic tasting species that are highly available in the areas of ocean that surrounds the Hawaiin islands. Two prime examples of fresh fish Hawaii that are fished quite frequently by these islanders are the yellowfish as well as the bigeye. The people of these islands have called them ahi for a long time, a word that means fire when translated.

The true fisherman will know the exact right places to look in order to find this aquatic life that people love to eat. It is well known that adult bigeye tunas like to hang out at the bottom, where they do their feeding. That is why a lot of big fishing outfits who usually focus on these as well as the yellowfin tuna, will send their lures all the way down there to get the mature specimens.

Some people will basically just eat whatever you put in front of them without question and just dig in since they just love food, or maybe they are just happy to get their first good square meal in since the plane ride. Others can be harder to please, and some just have a very particular taste. You might find that you develop a taste for a certain type of seafood while before you could not even tell the difference.

Although the albacore that is caught around the Hawaiin islands is known to have more oil and fat than other tuna, it is still delicious and relatively good for you when you compare it to some other things that you could be eating. Albacore is very popular for its use in sandwiches. People like it because it does not quite taste as fishy as other seafood products.

If you have ever seen a cartoon depicting ocean creatures, there has probably been a swordfish in there somewhere because of the hilarious animation opportunities there. In real life, the swordfish can actually be a very tasty meal that can feed many. This is especially true on these islands since the specimens caught are so large.

Marlin is also a species that is caught a lot in this area and is eaten and sold in markets quite regularly, so it will not be difficult to find. They come in a couple of different varieties, one of them being the striped marlin. Known for its beautiful colors and stripes, this is not the biggest type of marlin to be caught but has a great flavor.

No two fishes taste exactly alike if you really know your seafood, and the same is true with the blue marlin. If you choose to indulge in this tasty treat, you will find that it has a flavor similar to its marlin cousins. However, it is still distinct from those other species.

If you are looking for where to find the sometimes quite elusive shortbill spearfish, you might check in the areas around boueys as well as in areas of shallow water. This is where these, also called hebi, like to spend a lot of their time. While they are much smaller than a lot of the other billfish who they are related to, they taste rather the same.
