The Reason Using Pans Made Out Of Cast Iron Should Be Awesome!

By Stephaine McCollom

If you happen to be similar to me, then you most definitely grew up frying and eating dinner prepared in a pan or frying pan lined with non stick teflon. Many of the pans we buy are make like this today. These pans are lined with non stick teflon to stop our food from getting stuck to them. You have to be very careful with these pans, and you can not use steel utensils on teflon coated pans or the pans will scratch. I am quite sure you totally have experienced what I am talking about.

Yet this was not consistently the case. Men and women before cooked in cast iron pans. Teflon did not exist back then, and families needed to have something dependable that could last for a very long time. Men and women had to have something that was created one time, and put to use for anything. And for a lot of reasons, cast iron was the preferred choice.

These type of pans happened to be very durable and could take almost everything, from extreme heat to intense cold, or even being knocked on the floor. People used these types of pans before modern technology. Cast iron pans often endured 30 years or more and were given down from your grandparents.

Yet somewhere down the road, a lot of people lost the passion for pans made from cast iron. A pan much more handy appeared and people forgot about pans made out of cast iron. These days people make use of low price cookware that aren't built with quality, that can be washed easily. The reason for this is because this type of pan requires a little work. However if you put in that extra extra work, the rewards are very worth it.

This doesn't mean that everyone has quit using pans made with cast iron completely. I myself cook with cast iron pans all the time, and they are totally starting to stage a huge comeback. And this is because a lot of people have begun to catch on to the benefits.

Give me a chance to let you know about a couple of the qualities that make cast iron cooking incredible:

First, meals that are cooked in a pan made from cast iron really taste sweet. This type of food can really taste a lot more delicious than the things that you serve in a usual pan made out of teflon. That is because of what is known as the 'seasoning'. This seasoning is created from not ever using soap on the pan, and locking in the aromas that are created from cooking food in the pan. These tastes stay locked in the pan, and after some time begin to create rich, hearty tastes in your food.

The second thing is, pans that are made out of cast iron are completely stick resistant if you treat them the way that you should. The pans don't need teflon surfaces or any other man made chemical to stop food from getting stuck. That is because right after each use, you seal the cast iron pan with a very fine coating of grease. This cooking grease helps lock in the 'seasoning' and create a great surface that won't allow food to stick. After a little while, this seasoned surface remains long lasting.

And lastly, you can cook any type of food with pans made out of cast iron. You can grill vegetables on the stove, grill chicken, or even bake the pan in the stove. These pans are surprisingly versatile. Quite often I simply leave my cast iron pan right on top of the stove so that I can cook with the pan anytime I have to.

As I said before, using a cast iron pan has many pluses. I didn't even address all the benefits in this write up. Yet if you might be pondering acquiring one, I highly think you should. These pans are a great addition and will fully enhance how you cook. Also, these pans will last a lifetime. I really hope that many more families will get back to using cast iron as people happened to do in the past.
