Top drive-through food

If you were a kid in the early 1960's or have watched movies and films with the retro theme then you're probably familiar with drive through restaurants. Back then, these were pretty much a hype. Waiters back then were called "Car hops" wherein all of them were sexy ladies. They wore uniforms in almost all occasions. To get the food to the customers faster, some wore skates.

You could pull up in a car hop would come to your car and take your order. She would bring the food to your car on a special tray that hook onto your window. You'd consume the food and put the trash run on the tray, on the horn, and the car hop would come and retrieve your tray. Beach boy movies were such a hit back in the days and drive-ins were the mostly used settings which gave some drive-ins popularity.

A few of the commonly served food in drive through restaurants are fries, hotdogs, burgers, softdrinks like coke and pepsi and many more. For some, they can offer a variety of orders such as grilled cheese sandwich and chicken special orders.

Most of the drive-ins these days have modernized. They don't have the car hops and special uniforms or servers on skates. Still, some local entrepreneurs try to keep up a time-honored tradition. They have a simple setup, and prices are usually standard. Still, others are major companies with drive-ins around the nation. With all that said, which is the best drive-in food?

One of the major drive-ins that seems to be successful is sonic. These drive-ins have a varied menu, easy parking, and in some cases you can drive through, pick what you want to eat, and pay at the window. Gone are the days when they bring trays that fit on your window. Paper or plastic bags are now utilized to deliver your food right to your car.

As for the question on which drive-in food is the best, it would be better if we base the answer on personal choice. Over the years, it seems that the hamburger has been the favored food and drive-in restaurants. For most drive-ins, the burger is the best food since it can be prepared in a very few minutes and the price is quite convenient to any budget.

Some of the more famous drive-ins such as Dairy Queen, and A&W root beer, had specialties that there famous for. A lot of these customers visit these drive-ins for their own specific specialty food. Modern drive-ins feature specialty foods which consumer can easily take note of. An example of which is the special burger from Carl Junior drive-in known as the "Six Dollar Burger".

Through the years, ice cream has also been made a specialty like Dairy Queens "specialized ice cream". In addition, root beet was also made a specialty food just like what A&W have for each of their meals and orders.

Of course, who can forget the big Mac, or the Burger King double whopper? Yet again, we can see through here that burgers have the most variations and therefore has the most right to voted the best drive-in food.

Many people have been concerned about the ingredients in some of these foods, and such stores like McDonald's began serving healthier meals such as salads and fruits. The good thing is that, people also like it.
