Dietary Fat - The Bodybuilder's Friend

The traditional approach to bodybuilding is to adhere to a diet that is very low in fat. But new findings are starting to reveal the hidden role that fat plays in the body.

There are good and bad fats, and most of us have a pretty good handle on how to tell the difference. Bodybuilders, just like everyone else, need to include unsaturated fats rather than saturated animal fats. It's important to note that many of our nutritional needs like the Omega fatty acids have to be met through our diet.

EFA is a term that identifies the Essential Fatty Acids that are related to the Omega acids. Omega 3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated and are abundant in wild fish such as tuna and salmon. Flax seeds, walnuts, and specific kinds of meat products can also be an abundant source of essential fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids support cardiovascular health as well as brain function and health.

Increasing testosterone levels in your body can usually be achieved by taking some bodybuilding supplements. You can actually avoid the need for such a supplement by simply eating a certain amount of foods containing saturated fats. We all know that you should not have too high a daily level of saturated fats. To sustain your cholesterol levels, and produce testosterone regularly, eating a proper daily amount of saturated fats is recommended. Therefore, it is unnecessary to spend extra money on various supplements such as testosterone enhancing products if you follow this regimen.

A majority of dogged bodybuilders are familiar with Essential Fatty Acids and their abilities. You may read the benefits and think they will not necessarily apply to bodybuilding, but you could be mistaken in your assumptions. For example, one rich source of Omega fatty acids is Evening Primrose oil. In addition to imparting significant EFA's, it is furthermore an operative antioxidant. One of the overall effects if you eradicate the free radicals from your body is to be provided with more energy. Both your stamina and metabolic rate will boost. Entering bodybuilding, dietary fat consumption is critical because of the added stresses placed on your body. Utilizing trustworthy information and reliable resources is important when educating yourself. Without fail, perseverance to the sport will influence your learning. Dedication does not mean you must compete: that is up to you. But if you are going to work that hard to get the body you want, then it only makes sense that you become as efficient as possible.
