How To Make Your Interior Photography Captivating

By Melvin Neubauer

When you consider the work of a Singapore interior photographer, you can say that it can be very challenging yet rewarding as well. Also known as architectural photography, interior photography is primarily about taking photos of indoor spaces. You can expect your camera lens to be pointing towards the different rooms and features of a building and it is your job to make them look stunning.

When it comes to interior photography, you will usually be working with a limited space and therefore you need to make sure you are properly equipped with the right tools for the job. Most photographers use a wide-angle lens to capture a wider area. An important factor with interior photography is the quality of light that you use because it will determine the quality of your exposure.

In taking indoor photos, you will have to work with natural lighting in the room which is often not sufficient to allow for fast shutter speed settings on your camera. With slow shutter speeds, you have to make sure that your camera is steady to ensure sharp photos, and this is where a tripod becomes important. To improve the amount of light in a room, you can also opt to use reflectors.

There may also be times that you will need to use flash or strobe lighting and it is ideal that you also use reflectors or umbrellas to tone down the harshness of the light. A Singapore interior photographer will usually use natural lighting as much as possible because it is easy to work with and it is not too harsh as compared to strobe lighting.

Like other areas of photography, having a good composition is one of the priorities of a Singapore interior photographer. You should be able to evaluate a room beforehand to determine the most interesting areas of it because it is likely that you won't be able to take the photo of the entire room. You should also watch out for interesting objects that can be your foreground or background.

Having a high level of creativity is also important for any Singapore interior photographer, especially when you are coming up with a composition. You may want to try out various angles and heights to see which one would produce the best results. You can also experiment shooting both landscape and portrait orientations for different points of view.

In taking photographs of people, it is not uncommon to prep up the person by getting some hair and makeup done, and the same can be done with architectural photography. The room to be photographed must be organized properly and be free of any clutter. Any unnecessary objects in the photo can be distracting and might cause it to have a distasteful look.

For a Singapore interior photographer, it is important to come up with stunning ways of displaying the personality and the character of the architecture he is shooting. Like any other photos, it should have the capacity to tell a story and communicate with the viewers. You should not overlook unique patterns and designs in a room that can capture attention.
