By Allison Clark

Because of the many health and wellness benefits one can get from juicing fruits and vegetables, its popularity has been increasing quite a lot nowadays. Many people have come to discover that consuming vegetable and fruit juices is much healthier than consuming ready to drink juices and soda and it is also easy to make at home as long as you have a juicer that you can use for the process of juicing almost all fruits and vegetables that you can think of. One of the good things about consuming fresh juices is that the human body is able to quickly absorb the vitamins, minerals and nutrients found on the juiced vegetable or fruit. Juicing therefore, can improve nutrition and energy at the same time decreasing the chances of developing most of society's health problems. Below are some tips that can be useful regarding juicing:

-Your juicer should be placed in the kitchen not only for easy access but in order for you to be encouraged to use it always. This will also make it easier for you to make it a habit of juicing instead of getting foods and drinks that are not healthy. Also this will provide you with an easy access to the juicer and it would not be necessary for you to reach into the cupboard and other places where you usually hide and keep your juicer each time you want to use it.

-Prepare and fresh fruits and vegetables that you are planning to juice by first washing them to make sure that they are free from dirt. Be reminded that washing fruits and vegetables by placing them under running water is recommended rather than soaking them in water. One should also keep in mind that it is advisable not to peel fruits and vegetables prior to juicing them since some of the nutrients are found under the peel, except for some other fruits and vegetables where the peel is inedible.

-You also need to know that there are fruits and vegetables that are larger than the juicer or the mouth of the juicer making it necessary for you to cut or slice them into cubes to facilitate easy juicing. Slicing your fruits and vegetables will make you juice faster and more efficiently. Also remember that one way to prevent damaging your juicer is to remove seeds and pits of fruits especially those large ones.

-Fresh fruit and vegetables juices should be consumed immediately after juicing to prevent them from being oxidized. Juices that are oxidized have lesser nutrition content and has as awful taste and usually appears brown in color. it is not recommended to have your juice stay in the refrigerator or stay at room temperature. There is one way though to avoid your juice from being oxidized and that is to mix a tablespoon of lemon to the juice however, consuming them right after juicing is still the best way to ensure that nutrients are absorbed well by the body.

-Always remember to clean you juicer properly by removing the shredder unit from the juicer and soaking it in soapy water. A small toothbrush may also be used to remove small fragments of the produce. It is always best to clean your juicer right after juicing so that the juice extracts and pulp has not dried yet and can be removed easily.
